Bengaluru Police starts manhunt for Delhi man in girlfriend’s murder

Bengaluru (IANS) | Bengaluru Police has launched a hunt for a Delhi-based man who allegedly killed his girlfriend here and tried to make it look like a suicide. The matter came to light on Monday night in Jeevan Bhima Nagar limits of Bengaluru. Akanksha Vidyasagar (23), a resident of Hyderabad, died under suspicious circumstances. The accused has been identified as Arpit, a resident of New Delhi.

Police said the two were living together for some time, but had differences recently. They fought and decided to separate.

On Monday evening, the argument between the two turned violent and in a fit of rage, Arpit strangled Akanksha to death.

In a statement on Tuesday, Additional Commissioner (East) M. Chandrasekhar said Akanksha worked in a private company, and added that we suspect the role of her friend. The police have formed four teams to nab the accused.

He said that after committing the murder, the accused tried to make it appear as a case of suicide.

Chandrasekhar said that Arpit had tried to hang him from the ceiling fan, but failed.

According to the police, Arpit fled from the spot after unsuccessfully trying to hang the body.

The incident came to light after another roommate came after the night shift.
