BJP has prepared a formula for Bihar, but tension remains due to the fight between uncle and nephew
New Delhi (IANS) | BJP has almost prepared its strategy against Nitish Kumar, who is engaged in the campaign to unite opposition parties against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and held a big meeting in Patna regarding this. According to BJP sources, in view of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party has prepared a blueprint with which parties it will contest the Lok Sabha elections. Even the seat-sharing formula has almost been prepared, on which the party high command will put its final seal after deliberations in the coming days. But in the midst of all this, the tension of the fight between uncle-nephew i.e. Pashupati Paras and Chirag Paswan is still intact in front of BJP.
The leaders of the Bihar BJP core group held a marathon meeting for several hours at Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s residence in Delhi on Wednesday and have almost finalized the alliance and seat-sharing formula for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. 40 MPs of the Lok Sabha are elected from Bihar. According to sources, out of these 40 seats, the BJP itself will contest 29 or 30 seats and will give the remaining 10 or 11 seats to its allies.
A senior leader of the party, who is playing a big role in deciding the strategy of the party in Bihar, said that in view of the possible alliance to be formed in Bihar ie after the expansion of the NDA, the leaders of the Bihar core group of the party have decided on principle. But regarding the seat-sharing formula, it has been decided that the BJP can give three seats to Upendra Kushwaha’s party, RLJD. Pashupati Paras’s party Ralojpa and Chirag Paswan’s party LJP (Ram Vilas), BJP can give six seats by combining these two parties. An attempt will be made to persuade Jitan Ram Manjhi and Mukesh Sahni on some other formula, but if these two parties do not agree, then they can also be given one seat each. In this way 11 seats will go to the allies’ account and then BJP will contest on 29 seats and if Mukesh Sahni of VIP agrees to the Legislative Council or any other formula then BJP will contest on 30 seats.
But the biggest worry for the BJP still remains the ongoing political tussle between uncle Pashupati Paras and nephew Chirag Paswan. BJP does not want to give more than 6 seats to both together under any circumstances. Presently Pashupati Paras has five MPs including himself while Chirag Paswan is alone. Chirag will not be ready for the fact that his uncle is given five seats and he only one. At the same time, Pashupati Paras will also not be easily ready for the fact that his seat of MPs should be cut and given to his nephew’s political party. But the bigger fight than the seats is over the Lok Sabha seat of Hajipur on which neither of the two is ready to give up their claim.
Hajipur Lok Sabha seat is identified with late leader Ram Vilas Paswan. Presently, uncle Pashupati Paras Sasand is from here, who says that his elder brother Ram Vilas Paswan has chosen him to serve Hajipur, so how can he leave this seat. Chirag Paswan, on the other hand, is adamant on contesting the Lok Sabha elections from here in 2024, calling Hajipur the traditional parliamentary seat of his father Ram Vilas Paswan.
