Public anger erupted over student’s suicide, father said – fed up with molestation, died
Jamshedpur (IANS). Angry over the suicide incident of a 17-year-old college student in Sitaramdera area of Jamshedpur, locals blocked the road with her dead body. The girl’s father says that she ended her life after being fed up with the harassment of three youths of the locality. She was troubled by the false slander being leveled by the youths on the family.
The name of the girl who committed suicide is Gauri Mukhi. She lived at Flag Road Harijan Basti, Sitaramdera. His body was found hanging in the house on Friday morning. A few days ago, the girl’s mother was sent to jail by the police on charges of buying and selling brown sugar.
The girl’s father Gogo Ravidas says that three people Gopi Mukhi, Vijay Mukhi and Pratap Mukhi in connivance with the police sent his wife to jail by making false allegations. Whereas, brown sugar was also not recovered from him.
Gauri’s father says that a young man named Pratap Mukhi molested his daughter several times. A written complaint was made in the police station regarding this on May 23, but no action was taken. A memorandum was also given to the SSP regarding this. When no action was taken, finally a complaint was lodged in the court in this matter, only then an FIR was registered.
Gauri had recorded her statement in the court on Thursday itself. Hurt by the incidents of humiliation, he hanged himself. On Friday, the people of the township blocked the road with Gauri’s body for a long time. Later, the police ended the jam by persuading the people and sent the dead body for postmortem.
