25 kg tomatoes stolen, FIR registered on complaint of vegetable shopkeeper
Korba. Amidst skyrocketing prices of vegetables, such news is coming out, which is surprising people. Tomato, which is usually available at Rs 20 per kg, is running beyond Rs 140 these days. Tomato has become a soft target for thieves as soon as the price of tomato increases. Those who stock tomatoes now need to be even more careful. Vegetable shopkeeper Kailash Chandra Thakur had stocked 5 carat (125 kg) tomatoes in his house in Manikpur area of Korba city. On the night of July 11, thieves got away with one carat i.e. 25 kg tomatoes.
A few days ago there were reports of theft of vegetables from other states as well, in which thieves stole 27 sacks full of potatoes from the shop of a vegetable trader. Similarly, there were reports of theft of tomatoes as well. In the latest case, news of theft of garlic sacks has come to the fore. Thieves stole 92 thousand garlic here. However, in many cases the farmers have not registered the case of vegetable theft in the police station. Now, taking care, the food providers themselves are guarding the fields. Farmers say that the prices of vegetables are skyrocketing, due to which the incidents of theft have increased.
