Cleaning of river due to water problem
Raigarh. The Kelo river anicut and the inside of the river were cleaned on Thursday for the supply of sufficient clean water to all the houses from the water treatment plant under the Municipal Corporation area. The three departments, working jointly, carried out a cleaning campaign of the river from morning to evening. For the last few days, there were reports of water treatment plants (WTPs) of the municipal corporation not being able to purify the river water enough and less water supply in the municipal corporation area. This problem was persistent with WTP. A survey was conducted on this by the subject expert, from which it was found that 9 MLD and 32 MLD intakewells, from which the water of Kelo river is taken for purification in the water treatment plant. In those areas itself, the silt was deposited inside the river and under the anicut. Due to this, the water containing more dirt and clay came to the water treatment plant.
This was discussed by the Water Department of the Municipal Corporation with the officials of Kelo Project and Water Resources Department. During the discussion, a joint plan was made to clean the river from the intakewell area of the river, from Aniket to Valve. Under the plan, on Thursday, a team of engineers and employees of all the three departments conducted a special campaign in the Kelo river anicut. During this, the water level in Anicut was maintained by the Banana Project and by the Water Resources. Similarly, by opening the anicut, the soil was cleaned near the intake well inside the river. This campaign went on from early morning till late evening. Due to this, the WTP is expected to get sufficient water from the river and sufficient pure water will be supplied from the WTP to the houses under the Municipal Corporation area.
