Cadre of Ansarullah Bangla team arrested in Assam
Guwahati (IANS). Police on Saturday arrested a member of disbanded militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) in Assam’s Dhubri district.
Dhubri Superintendent of Police Naveen Singh told IANS that we were on the lookout for the ABT member for the last few days. A manhunt was on to nab him. He was hiding because of his arrest. But we caught him on Saturday morning.
Recently, one more member of ABT was arrested in Morigaon district. He was brought to Dhubri and was further interrogated to find links with terror modules in Assam. Superintendent of Police Naveen Singh further said that the second member of ABT who was caught in Morigaon is in our custody.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “A member of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) module Abdul Shukur Ali s/o Akbar Ali from Takimari near Bangladesh border was arrested this morning by a team led by Dhubri police at a police station called Nairalga under Bilasipara police station. Caught from remote area. At present, the police is interrogating the person in depth.”
