Jajpur: BJD wins Dharmasala Zone No. 15 Zilla Parishad election

Jajpur: The state ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) won the Dharmasala Zone No. 15 Zilla Parishad election, result of which was declared today.

BJD candidate Chakradhar Behera won the Dharmasala Zone No. 15 Zilla Parishad election by defeating his close opponent of BJP’s Maheswar Tarai with a margin of 10,196 votes.

While Behera got 16,636 votes while Tarai received only 6,440 votes. Likewise, the Congress candidate polled just 851 votes.

The counting of votes was held between 8 AM and 3 PM at Dharmasala College.

BJD’s Bhagyadhar Sethi had won the Zilla Parishad election in 2022 with a margin of over 4000 votes. However, the Zilla Parishad seat fell vacant following Bhagyadhar’s death.

Meanwhile, Chakradhar Behera and Dharmasala MLA Pranab Balabantaray gave the credit of the win to the voters and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik.
