Another student commits suicide in Kota, 20th case in 8 months
Jaipur (IANS). A 17-year-old JEE student committed suicide in his hostel room in Rajasthan’s Kota. The police gave this information on Friday. Manish Prajapat, a resident of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, came to Kota six months ago. He was staying here in a hostel located in Mahavir Nagar under Jawahar Nagar police station area.
Prajapat was preparing for JEE from Unacademy Institute.
Police said the father had come to meet her on Thursday, four hours before she committed suicide. Father returned to Azamgarh in the evening itself.
Hostel caretaker Rakesh told that Prajapat had come to stay in this hostel a few months ago and his father had got him a room. On Thursday his father was in Kota only. According to Rakesh, his father looked angry.
Prajapat had come downstairs to eat lunch at the mess when he was last seen. He had returned from coaching around 6-6.30 pm.
At around eight o’clock in the night, his father called him, but there was no answer. On this he called the caretaker and asked to talk to the son.
The incident came to light when the caretaker reached his room. Rakesh said, “I went to Prajapat’s room with the phone in hand and knocked on the door, but got no answer.”
After this he informed the hostel operator, who asked him (Rakesh) to peep through the skylight. When the caretaker peeped inside, he found Prajapat hanging and informed the police.
Police said that Prajapat hanged himself with a bedsheet.
By the time the Jawahar Nagar police station broke open the door, Prajapat had already died.
This is the 20th case of suicide in Kota in the last eight months.
