Thane: 18 patients died in the last 24 hours at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial Hospital in Kalwa, Thane, Maharashtra. All of them were admitted here for treatment. According to initial reports, a large number of people who died were admitted in the ICU. Apart from this, the exact figure is yet to be confirmed from the hospital. Even before this, six patients died here simultaneously. In this way, 24 people have lost their lives in the hospital in a week. Relatives of the deceased have created ruckus there. At the same time, NCP leader Sharad Pawar has surrounded the administration and the government by tweeting.
Meanwhile, officials have said that they are trying to find out the cause of the deaths in the hospital. According to Times of India, most of the patients were old and were in very critical condition. It is also learned that this is the only regional level hospital in the city. There is a lot of crowd of patients in it. A large number of people from the suburbs as well as neighboring districts reach here for treatment. Apart from this, the renovation work is going on in the civil hospital, due to which the crowd has increased in this hospital. It is being told that the dean of the hospital has accepted the death of 18 patients.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar has also expressed grief over the death of such a large number of patients. In his tweet, he wrote that even after so many deaths, the administration has not woken up. On the other hand, the relatives have accused the hospital management. On the other hand, the hospital management says that there has been no negligence in the treatment of any patient. Meanwhile, former Mayor and Shiv Sena leader Naresh Mhaske said that he has spoken to the responsible people about this. Officials have been asked to find out the reason behind such large scale deaths. An attempt was also made to talk to Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar in the matter. But his reply was not received till the time of writing the news.
