Outrage over mob lynching in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh, people gheraoing the police station
Ranchi (IANS). There is tension and anger in the area over the lynching of a man named Shamshad Ansari by a mob in Sikni village of Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district.
In protest against this, people laid siege to Rajrappa police station on Wednesday. Calling it mob lynching, people are demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
The protesters are adamant that until the arrest of the accused, they will neither allow the post-mortem nor perform the last rites.
Please tell that on Tuesday evening, 45-year-old Shamshad Ansari was thrashed almost naked by a mob in Sikni village. Shamshad was a resident of Jario village of this police station area. Those who beat him were accusing him of cheating five thousand rupees from Haradhan Mahato, an elderly resident of Sikni.
Meanwhile, on getting the information, the police reached the spot and rescued Shamshad from the clutches of the mob and admitted him to Sadar Hospital for treatment, where he died in the night.
Mo. Shamshad’s wife Haseena Khatoon has said in a written complaint lodged at the police station that he had gone out with Rs 50,000 to shop for his niece’s wedding. He had to take more money from someone in Sikni village.
On Tuesday evening, the police informed that her husband was admitted to the hospital in an injured condition. When he reached the hospital, he had died. They have been lynched by the mob.
Haseena Khatoon has lodged an FIR against 30-40 people of Sikni village including six named people in the FIR, Chhote Lal Mahato, Kameshwar Mahato, Puran Mahato, Rajendra Patel, Baldev Thakur.
The police have refused to consider it as an incident of mob lynching. However, about a dozen people are being interrogated in custody in this incident.
Here Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Working President Shahzada Anwar has demanded action calling it mob lynching. Former Congress MLA of the area, Mamta Devi has termed the incident as unfortunate. He said that after meeting the CM, he will inform about the incident.
