Maoists set ablaze eight vehicles engaged in road construction in Palamu, Jharkhand
Ranchi (IANS). The mischief of Naxalites did not stop in Jharkhand. A squad of heavily armed Maoists stormed a road construction site at Mahudand in Palamu district last night and torched eight vehicles at once.
Most of the vehicles are such that were being used in road construction.
Naxalites thrashed the personnel engaged in road construction and spread terror by firing in the air.
It was informed that JCBs, Hyva, tractors, road rollers parked in the Hardiya Valley, border areas of Hussainabad and Chhatarpur in the district were burnt. Here, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, a road is being constructed till Kalapahar in Chhatarpur via Mahudand in Hussainabad till Karbar.
On Wednesday night, a squad of Naxalites reached the road construction site. As soon as he reached, the Naxalites searched for the scribe. Started fighting with him. Removed diesel from the vehicles engaged in road construction and set fire to the vehicles parked there.
On receiving the information, the police team left for the spot in the night itself. Maoists are being searched by cordoning off the area.
Information is being received that this incident was carried out by the Nitish squad of the banned Naxalite organization CPI Maoist.
Naxalite activity was curbed in the area after the establishment of a police picket at Mahund, but the Maoists have once again made their presence felt in the area by disrupting the road construction work. 1
Four years ago, Maoists had killed nine policemen by exploding landmines on this road.
