Odisha to experience heavy rainfall with lightning till August 26, alerts issued
Bhubaneswar: The state continues to experience heavy rainfall amid the ongoing monsoon season. Forecasts suggest heavy rainfall in Odisha is likely to continue for the next three days. Several areas across the state might experience lightning and thunderstorms as well.
A total of 25 districts have been given a yellow warning till 8:30 AM today. These districts are likely to experience lightning along with heavy rainfall. Additionally, another yellow warning has been issued to 25 districts for moderate to heavy rainfall tomorrow.
Further, 19 districts have been given a yellow warning in view of heavy rainfall on July 26. The regional meteorological department has forecasted lightning and moderate rainfall in most of the districts during this time.
The current monsoon season in Odisha has recorded an average rainfall of 743.80 mm. This lies about 10 percent less than the expected average rainfall of 811.90 mm.
So far, only one district of Odisha has witnessed excessive rainfall. While 18 districts have received moderate amount of rainfall, 18 districts have recorded a scarcity in rains.
