clerk spent the department’s money in speculation, spent crores of rupees on addiction
Kondagaon: An Assistant Grade-2 posted in the Fisheries Department, gambled Rs. 1.25 crore of the government’s money. clerk himself disclosed this by writing a letter to top departmental officials. The officials immediately investigated the account and after the truth came to light, a complaint was lodged with the police.
The matter pertains to the Fisheries Department of Kondagaon and Narayanpur districts, where a case of embezzlement of Rs 1.26 crore of government money by posted Assistant Grade-2 Sanjay Garhpale came to light. Sanjay himself has revealed this by writing a letter to top departmental officers. As soon as the letter was in the hands of the officials, there was panic in the department and without wasting any time an investigation was conducted and it was found that there was indeed no money in the account. Along with this, a complaint was lodged with the police.
The police have started questioning by bringing the employee to the police station. Investigation has also revealed that the employee had been depositing different amounts of money in his account for a year and then kept withdrawing the same money for gambling, but no one was aware of it. The biggest question is that the employee was spending the government money by depositing it in his account for a whole year, but no officer even came to know about it.
