Dead bodies of 30 dogs found in a garbage dump, also saw a bowl full of milk
Chennai: Bodies of 30 stray dogs have been found in a garbage dump in Madambakkam, Chennai. Local residents who were out for a morning walk on Sunday saw the dead bodies of the dogs. They also saw a bowl full of milk near the garbage heap and suspected that someone might have mixed poison in the milk and fed it to the dogs. After informing the jurisdictional Selayur police station, the bodies of the dogs were buried the same day. The police have not yet registered a complaint in this regard. Police said they would inform the public health department of Tambaram Corporation.
Animal lovers and organizations have appealed to people to inform authorities and NGOs about the problem of street dogs. Local people have expressed displeasure over the absence of any helpline for animal-related complaints.
