Former Chief Minister prisoner number 7691: Kept in special room, NSG commandos not allowed inside
Rajahmundry: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is remand prisoner number 7691 in Rajahmundry Central Jail. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo was brought to jail early on Monday after a Vijayawada court sent him to 14-day judicial custody in the alleged skill development scam.
The 73-year-old has been kept in a special room in the ‘Sneha’ block of the central jail. On the direction of the court, the jail authorities are providing him special facilities including a special room, home-cooked food, medicines and adequate security in view of the threat perception. Naidu enjoys Z Plus category security. However, NSG commandos are not allowed inside the jail.
The TDP leader’s lawyers have filed a petition in the Vijayawada ACB court to allow detention in view of Z Plus security. This petition is likely to be heard on Monday along with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) petition for Naidu’s police custody.
