DGP holds meeting regarding traffic management of Chardham Yatra
State Director General of Police Ashok Kumar today held a meeting regarding traffic management of Chardham Yatra at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh. Police officers from Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri districts attended the meeting. The Director General of Police has identified the bottlenecks in Rishikesh, Munikireti and Laxmanjhula areas, which are becoming a hindrance in the smooth operation of traffic, and asked them to submit a report in three days. Apart from appointing a traffic inspector in Rishikesh area and a sub-inspector in Laxmanjhula area, the evacuation of all vehicles on weekends will be diverted from Garudchatti Marg towards Haridwar via Chilla Marg.
It was decided in the meeting that from every Friday afternoon, the outstation vehicles coming to Rishikesh would be sent from Nepali Farm to Bhaniawala, Ranipokhari to Indramani Badoni Chowk to the hilly area. Vehicles will not be allowed to come from Haridwar towards Rishikesh and Laxmanjhula via Chilla Marg. In the meeting, the DGP also gave instructions to mark temporary parking places in view of the Chardham Yatra.
