Girls students and teachers celebrated World Mental Health Day under the banner of Student Wellness Initiative
Varanasi. Students and teachers of Women’s College (MMV), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) celebrated World Mental Health Day on Tuesday with a special program under the banner of Student Wellness Initiative. The objective of the program is to increase awareness and support about mental health issues among girl students and the society. The program included speeches by two eminent mental health professionals, Dr. Dwarka Prasad and Dr. Tarlochan Singh, who shared their valuable insights and expertise on mental health with the audience.
Dr. Dwarka Prasad is a retired Professor of Clinical Psychology from PGI Chandigarh, who has developed indigenous psychological measurement instruments and written books on the Rorschach inkblot test. Dr. Tarlochan Singh is a clinical psychologist practicing in Ludhiana and has experience in dealing with all types of psychological and behavioral problems. Speakers highlighted the importance of mental health as a basic human right for all people, regardless of age, gender, culture or background. They also discussed various challenges and barriers that prevent people from accessing quality mental health care or enjoying their mental health rights, such as stigma, discrimination, lack of awareness, lack of resources, lack of trained professionals and support Shortage. She urged female students to take care of their mental health and well-being by asking for help when needed and offering help when possible. She also suggested some tips and habits that can help girl students deal with stress, anxiety, depression and other common problems, such as eating well, sleeping well, exercising regularly, meditating, indulging in hobbies that Make them happy, expressing their feelings in healthy ways, and communicating with people who care about them.
