Tamil art director Milan Fernandez dies of heart attack in Azerbaijan
Chennai : Acclaimed art director Milan Fernandes, known for his work on Tamil films like ‘Billa’, ‘Veluyantham’, ‘Vedalam’ and ‘Oram Po’ among many others, passed away tragically due to a heart attack in Azerbaijan. He was 54 years old.
The news of her demise was confirmed by popular Malayalam actor Prem Kumar, who posted a picture of himself with Milan on his X handle.
He wrote, Oh God, art director Milan sir is no more, very cool person, I knew him in Thunivu. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, this happened in Azerbaijan.
Tamil actor Jayaram Ravi expressed his condolences on X, and wrote, “Shocked to hear about the demise of art director Milan. My heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.”
Born in Chennai, Milan started working in the Tamil film industry as an assistant art director in 1999. Initially he worked with the famous art director Sabu Cyril in films like ‘Spoken’, ‘Tamilion’, ‘Villain’ and ‘Stranger’.
Gradually, he shifted towards becoming a solo art director where he designed the art for the 2006 film ‘Kalabha Kandhalan’ and the 2007 black-comedy film ‘Oram Po’.
Later he was a part of the films ‘Vaitheeswaran’, ‘Solla Solla Inikkum’ and also entered Malayalam cinema in 2012 with the comedy film ‘Padmashree Bharat Saroj Kumar’.
Since 2006, Milan Fernandez has worked in over 30 films and has also done art direction for commercials. Some of his recent artworks have been featured in films like ‘Oxygen’, ‘Sammy 2’, ‘Jaani’, ‘Bogun’ and ‘Sagasam’.
Her last film is director Siva’s upcoming period-action Tamil film ‘Kanguva’, starring Suriya, Disha Patani, Bobby Deol, Yogi Babu, Ravi Raghavachandra, Kovai Sarala and Radin Kingsley among others. This film will hit theaters in 2024. (IANS)
