Seized money is linked to BJP: Karnataka Deputy CM on IT raids

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Tuesday said the huge cash seized during the Income Tax raid in Bengaluru is linked to the BJP and its leaders.

Talking to journalists here, Shivkumar said that this has nothing to do with the Congress government or the party.

He said that during the raid, Income Tax officials, according to their information, found books and several diaries and the facts will come out during the investigation.

Shivkumar indirectly defeated former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy and former BJP national general secretary C.T. Taking aim at Ravi, he said that the names that will come forward are former BJP minister R. Ashok, the fake owner, blackmail owner and the loot will belong to Ravi.

“Let them investigate. The previous BJP government was a symbol of corruption. Our leaders are also demanding an investigation. Let the investigation be initiated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED),” Shivakumar said.

He said, “The entire corruption is done only by the BJP. BJP is the foundation of corruption and that is why the people of Karnataka voted them out of power. All the contracts have been given by the previous BJP government.”

Commenting on BJP releasing posters depicting CM Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar as “collection masters”, he said that BJP is the Himalaya of corruption. He said, “During the BJP government, there was an allegation of Rs 2,000 crore reaching the high command from the CM office.”

Shivkumar said, “Should I ask MLAs and former ministers to issue statements on corruption during the BJP government?”

Since last week, Income Tax Department officials have seized more than Rs 80 crore in cash. Over Rs 40 crore in cash was seized from the flat of a contractor who was accused of charging 40 per cent commission against the previous BJP government. In another raid, Income Tax officials found more than Rs 40 crore in cash from a builder’s flat.

The BJP and JD(S) are accusing the Congress government of collecting money for the assembly elections in five states. (IANS)
