Man gets rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and raping minor girl
Balasore: Rigorous imprisonment to man for kidnapping and raping minor girl. A Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) court in Odisha’s Balasore district has sentenced a man found guilty of kidnapping and rape of a minor girl to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
Judge Ranjan Kumar Sutar heard the case and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict. If this fine is not paid, he will have to face an additional jail sentence of two years.
The matter came to light when the father of the 15-year-old victim lodged a police complaint in September last year, accusing the man of kidnapping and sexually assaulting his daughter. Special Public Prosecutor Pranab Panda represented the prosecution in the case.
Subsequently, the accused was arrested and charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act. The court has also ordered the District Legal Services Authority to pay Rs 4 lakh as compensation to the victim.
