‘The party has shown confidence in me’…Congress MLA Pramod Jain Bhaya said this after getting the ticket again
Baran (ANI): After the Congress party released its second list of candidates for the Rajasthan Assembly elections, which includes its sitting MLA from Anta constituency, Pramod Jain Bhaya said the party command has shown confidence in him. Bhaya is considered a “close aide” of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. He is also the Minister of Mines and Petroleum in the third cabinet of Ashok Gehlot.
“The party high command showed confidence in me and elected me from Anta assembly constituency for the fourth time. Certainly a public representative is responsible for social work and development of his area. Whenever the public blessed me, I tried to strengthen my abilities.” Congress MLA from Anta, Pramod Jain Bhaya said while talking to ANI.
Bhaya said, “I have done historic work on issues related to the general public. The public has blessed me and the Chief Minister has respected their sentiments. Whatever I have done is in front of the public.”
Anta, located in the Baran district of Rajasthan, is one of the 200 constituencies of the state legislative assembly.
In the 2018 state assembly elections, Pramod Jain Bhaya of Congress defeated Prabhu Lal Saini of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Bhaya had got 97,160 votes with a vote percentage of 589, while BJP’s Saini had got 63,097 votes with a vote percentage of 37.73.
Pramod Jain Bhaya has contested elections thrice from Anta assembly constituency since 2018.
In 2013 he lost to Prabhu Lal Saini.
The Congress on Sunday released its second list of 43 candidates for the Rajasthan Assembly elections, which includes the names of state ministers Pratap Singh Khachariyawas and Govind Ram Meghwal. The ruling party has fielded Govind Ram Meghwal from Khajuwala, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas from Civil Lines and Parsadi Lal Meena from Lolsot. Also, Congress has fielded former Rajasthan Chief Secretary Niranjan Arya from Sojat seat. He is considered close to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress won 99 seats, while the BJP won 73 seats in the 200-member House. Ashok Gehlot came to power with the support of BSP MLAs and independent MLAs.
Earlier on Saturday, the Congress released its first list of 33 candidates for the Rajasthan Assembly elections, which included the names of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, state party chief Govind Singh Dotasra and president CP Joshi.
The party chose to re-appoint sitting MLAs on 29 seats, while four others were chosen to contest from constituencies where the BJP has sitting MLAs. The Congress’ first list came soon after the BJP released its second list of 88 candidates, taking it to 124 out of the total 200 candidates.
Elections for the 200-member assembly will be held on November 25.
Counting of votes will take place on December 3. Out of the five states, voting will be held in two phases in Chhattisgarh.
