Accidents happening on expressways due to speed, overtaking and dozing
Haryana. Despite all the safety measures, accidents on Yamuna Expressway are not stopping. Even late at night, five people of the same family traveling in a car died in a collision with an unknown vehicle. People are losing their lives on the expressway due to over speeding, overtaking from wrong lane, driver dozing off, tire burst, fog etc. Experts say that if small things are kept in mind, accidents can be avoided.
Yamuna Expressway is 165 kilometers long. This expressway, which started in August 2012, has reduced the distance between Greater Noida and Agra. About Rs 13 thousand crores have been spent on its construction. The speed limit for light vehicles on this expressway is fixed at 100 km/hour. Despite this, drivers drive much more vehicles than this. The speed of cars on this expressway has been recorded at 203 km/hour.
Even after taking a nap, drivers start feeling lethargic due to continuous driving on the expressway. They feel sleepy. Accidents happen due to sleep/nap in the morning. Of all the accidents that have occurred here since the operation of the expressway till August 2032, more than 44 accidents are due to drivers falling asleep.
The authority got the work done on the suggestions of IIT. Crash beam barriers were installed on both sides of the expressway divider. Due to these, vehicles no longer move in the other direction after an accident.

The possibility of accidents increases on Yamuna Expressway during winter. Not visible due to fog. Despite this, drivers do not reduce the speed limit. The speed limit of vehicles is reduced in winter.

Lanes are fixed for vehicles on the expressway. It has also been decided from which lane overtaking should be done. Drivers don’t care about these rules.
