Onion prices surge in Odisha, wholesale rates reach Rs. 80
Bhubaneswar: There has been an onion price surge in Odisha said reliable reports on Wednesday, the price of onions has reached Rs. 80 per kilogram in Odisha.
According to reports, onion is making consumers cry. Onion prices are constantly increasing with each passing day. Onion which was available at Rs. 20 per kilogram has now reached Rs 80 per kilogram.
It is believed that because onion is expensive in Nashik, it is affecting Odisha. Now when the prices of all the products are on the upward rise suddenly onion is also included in them, so the consumers are worried.
Local vendors and traders have expressed their concerns over the escalating prices of onions, citing challenges in sourcing the essential vegetable due to the decreased yield.
The situation becomes even more critical in light of the fact that the onion is a fundamental ingredient in Indian cooking, and its affordability is integral to the diets of millions. Homemakers are now voicing their apprehension about managing their household budgets with these escalating food prices.
On a national level, the main onion-producing state, Maharashtra, is witnessing a substantial increase in onion prices. In the Pimpalgaon market, the price of onions per quintal has surged from Rs 2500 to Rs 5000 over the past month.
