Indian student attacked with knife
Washington. Indian student P Varun Raj (24) was attacked with a knife at a fitness center in the US state of Indiana. The student’s condition remains critical after the attack and the student has been put on life support.
Varun, a computer science student, was attacked with a knife by Jordan Andrade (24) in a gym on Sunday morning. Police officials are investigating the reasons behind the attack. Sources said, even after three days of treatment, Varun is on life support system. His nervous system has been seriously damaged. There is a possibility of Varun becoming permanently disabled and having trouble seeing and weakening of the organs on his left side. ,
The attacker has been arrested and charged with attempt to murder. Seeing the serious injuries, Varun has now been transferred to the hospital in Fort Wayne.
Meanwhile, the attacker, Andrade, was presented before Porter Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Clymer. Andrade has denied the allegations against him. The President of Valparaiso University has expressed grief over the barbaric attack on a student.
University President Jose Padilla said, we are shocked and saddened by the attack on Varun Raj. At Valparaiso University we treat each other like family and this type of attack is horrifying to us. Our thoughts and prayers are with all his friends and family.”
“In addition to our condolences and prayers, the university and the Valpo community are providing resources to Varun’s family to help them reach the United States as quickly as possible,” Michael Fenton said in an email to the Chicago Tribune.
He said that the university is also giving full cooperation in the ongoing investigation of the police department. The North American Telugu Society (NATS) has started collecting donations and as of Wednesday, more than $38,000 had been raised. NATS said, “His condition is currently critical.” He is in a coma and fighting for his life. His family contacted us and requested help in paying the huge medical bills as well as the travel expenses for his parents to come to the US. We are trying for this.
