Raipur: The price of onion is once again making the country cry. Seeing onion becoming out of reach of common people, the Central Government has taken steps and is selling it at Rs 25 per kg in Raipur and other cities. Traders say that the price of onion has doubled in the last one week. Due to which these days onion is being sold at Rs 70 to Rs 90 per kg across the country. In such a situation, in view of the problems of the people, the Consumer Affairs Department of the Government of India, through NCCF, is distributing Rs. 25 per kg through mobile vans in Aam Para, Shankar Nagar, Pandari, Telghani Naka Chowk, Samta Colony, Purani Basti, Gudhiyari, Ramnagar, Telibandha of the capital. Officials said that to reduce the impact of rising onion prices, onions are being continuously distributed from the buffer stock to major centers across the country since the second week of August. Onion is being sold at the rate of Rs 25 per kg in 170 cities and 685 centers of the country. People are flocking to Raipur to buy onions available at low prices.
