Girl commits suicide due to objectionable video, anger in family
Lakhimpur Kheri (UP): People got angry over the suicide of a teenage girl after an objectionable video went viral in Sampoornanagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, UP. People created a ruckus on Saturday. The angry mob blocked the intersection by placing the dead body of the girl, demanding bulldozing of the houses and shops of people from other communities accused of forcing the girl to commit suicide. Angry people also pelted stones at the shops of the accused. During this time the police used mild force to control them. After this, people became more enraged and sat on strike.
People also vandalized the furniture shop. Not only this, the goods kept outside the shop were set on fire. The angry crowd started pelting stones after the police started using batons. On receiving information about the uproar, police from several police stations reached the spot. Additional SP also reached the spot. He tried to convince the people but people did not end the protest. There is tension in the town regarding the incident. Traders have kept their shops closed.
Let us tell you that on Thursday, the body of a teenage girl was found hanging in her house in Sampoorna Nagar. The family members had accused a youth from another nearby community of making the objectionable video of the girl viral on social media. The police had started action by registering a case against the youth and others under various serious sections. On the other hand, angry family members and villagers were demanding strict action against the accused due to this incident. On Saturday morning, under the leadership of Bajrang Dal, all the villagers gathered at the intersection and blocked the road by placing the dead body of the girl. The crowd was demanding bulldozers to attack the houses and shops of the accused.
The crowd moved towards the shops of the accused several times and the police kept stopping them. After this the crowd pelted stones. The police also dispersed the crowd by using force, but the people did not open the jam. SDM Palia Karthikeya Singh reached the spot and tried to understand the people but people are not ready to accept it.
