Tejashwi Yadav gets relief from court
Patna: RJD leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav has got a big relief from the Supreme Court in the defamation case. While hearing the petition of Tejashwi Yadav, the country’s highest court Ahmedabad Court has given relief to Tejashwi Yadav from appearing in the lower courts.
On September 22, he was summoned for defamation.
The case was heard in Ahmedabad court on 4 November. Tejashwi Yadav’s lawyer said that this is why he had asked the Supreme Court to transfer the criminal defamation case filed against him. After this, the hearing on the case was scheduled for November 6. The RJD leader, through his lawyer, sought exemption from appearing before Gujarat District Judge DJ Parmar, who had summoned him on September 22 in a criminal defamation case over his alleged comments.
He cannot attend the meeting
Tejashwi Yadav has filed a petition in the Supreme Court under Section 406 of CrPC. In this context, Tejashwi Yadav said that he is a law abiding citizen and the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and usually stays at his official address in Patna. Therefore, due to his responsibilities, which include overseeing important public welfare projects, he cannot participate in future stages of this court. This is necessary in view of the upcoming religious holidays.
In March 2023, Tejashwi Yadav had given a statement on Gujarat. Tejashwi Yadav commented about Gujaratis in front of the media. Gujarati businessman and social activist Harsh Mehta refuted this statement and filed a criminal defamation case against Tejashwi Yadav in the Ahmedabad city district court. The petitioner had said that the sentiments of Gujaratis have been hurt by Tejashwi Yadav’s statement.
