Notorious Naxalite arrested, was involved in major attacks

Kanker. This morning, the soldiers who were out on searching in Sureli Mankot of the district had an encounter with the Maoists. Seeing the soldiers being overwhelmed, the Naxalites started running away from the spot. The soldiers caught a Naxalite while chasing the fleeing Naxalites. Police also recovered a huge quantity of explosives from the Maoist hideout, which included 2 IEDs and a pipe bomb. After the encounter, the soldiers demolished the camp and also defused the bomb. Naxal material was also seized from the spot. A day before the elections, police and soldiers have got a big success in Antagarh area.

The police party had left on information about the presence of Naxalites. An encounter took place between the Kanker DRG and BSF team and Naxalites in the middle of Mankot at around 7-8 am on Monday morning. After the encounter, the police demolished the Naxal camp. All the police parties and soldiers have reached the camp safely. A large quantity of Naxalite material and weapons have been recovered from the spot. Two IEDs and a pipe bomb were found on the spot, which were destroyed. Seeing the soldiers being overwhelmed, the Naxalites started running away from the spot. A Naxalite militia member was arrested while fleeing the spot. Naxalite’s name is Mukesh Mandavi (23 years) resident of village Murnar police station Tadoki.
