More than 15 businesses destroyed in massive fire
Guwahati: According to reports, a massive fire wreaked havoc in Guwahati’s Barbari area on Sunday night, with more than 15 business establishments gutted. The fire broke out in the crowded market of Barbari Tiniyali, with initial assessments indicating that it destroyed at least 19 shops, mainly dealing in fruits and vegetables.
The local community in Barbaree has suspected that the widespread inferno may have been the result of a deliberate arson attack by unknown criminals. The exact cause of the fire is being investigated.
Responding quickly to the emergency, local authorities dispatched police personnel and fire teams to the spot. Three fire tenders were immediately deployed to tackle the raging flames, working diligently to bring the situation under control and prevent further devastation.

Earlier, there was an incident of fire in a scrap material warehouse in Bamunimaidam area of Guwahati. According to local people, the fire broke out around 2 am on Thursday night and firefighters kept working hard to extinguish the fire completely. The warehouse contained a large amount of scrap material, including plastic items and other flammable materials. It became difficult for firefighters to completely extinguish the flames as these materials continued to burn below the surface. However, firefighters controlled the fire in limited time.

Firefighters reported that they could have stopped the fire from spreading to nearby buildings within an hour, but it took them much longer to completely extinguish the fire given the amount of flammable materials present in the warehouse. Although the exact cause of the fire has not been known yet, local people have speculated that it may have been caused by an electrical short circuit or some mischievous element may have caused the fire.
