Vac Djokovic eyes 2024 season
Turin (ANI): 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, who capped an amazing year by winning a record-breaking seventh ATP Finals on Sunday, has no plans of slowing down.
This season she set several new records, increasing her total Grand Slam titles to 24 and achieving the year-end top ranking for the eighth time.
When asked how he could improve on such a successful campaign, the 36-year-old didn’t think twice about setting high standards for himself.
“Okay, you can win four Slams and Olympic gold. lets see. I have always had the highest ambitions and goals. It’s not going to be any different for next year, that’s for sure. The enthusiasm I have is still there. My ATP quoted Djokovic as saying, “The body is serving me well, listening to me well. I have a great team of people around me.”
“The motivation, especially for the biggest tournaments in the game, is still there.
It still motivates me to move forward. At the end of the day, people see you perform at the big tournaments, but they don’t see all the weeks and months of dedicated work day in, day out, week in and week out, trying to build your form so you can peak there. Where you want to reach the top. For me, obviously they are the Grand Slams and the [ATP] Finals, and hopefully the Olympic Games next year as well,” said the 24-time major champion.
“The mentality is the same. I will keep going. I don’t know whether the next year will be as good for me or not, but I will maintain this freshness of mind and motivation in a way.” Do it,” the 36-year-old said.
Djokovic defeated three of the most promising young players on the ATP Tour to win the ATP Finals title.
He defeated Holger Roon in the group stage before eliminating Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the elimination stage.
“When they play me, I want them to feel that they need to play their best tennis to win against me. “Of course, that’s what I want my opponents to feel, because it helps mentally coming into the match.” He said.
“I think the more I win on the biggest stage, the more that kind of aura grows, and I’m happy about that, no doubt. Of course, it won’t win you the match, but it might give you a little percentage, small edge,” he said.
Djokovic heaped praise on Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune and referred to them as the “next big three” who will “take the game forward” in the future. But at least for the moment, the Serbian is clearly the best player in the game as he tops the ATP rankings.
“I will hold on as long as I feel like it. As long as I’m able to win against him on the big stage, I’ll still keep going – because why stop at the title if you’re still going to win the biggest one? “Once they start kicking the butt at me, I will probably consider taking a little break or maybe a permanent break from professional tennis,” Djokovic said.
