Visakhapatnam: Eight school children were injured in a collision between an auto and a lorry near Sangam Sarath Theater in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. These children have been admitted to the hospital. Police have registered the case and started investigation. Officials told news agency ANI that eight children of Bethany School were injured in the incident.
The truck driver and cleaner tried to escape. But the auto drivers present there took him into custody and handed him over to the police. The injured students were immediately taken to a nearby hospital and are being treated. In the incident captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the area, the auto is seen colliding directly with the speeding lorry.
As soon as the collision occurred, 2-3 children fell out of the car while the rest remained trapped in the overturned auto. The lorry driver stopped his vehicle 100 meters before the accident site. Police investigation is going on. According to local reports quoting local police, after initial investigation, examination of CCTV footage revealed that the accident occurred due to negligence of the auto driver. Further investigation into the matter is still ongoing and there are no reports of any legal action being taken against any of the drivers involved in the accident.
