Wanted to sell two headed snake for crores, 4 smugglers arrested
Yamunanagar : A case of smuggling of two-headed snake, which is sold for crores of rupees, has come to light in Haryana in which the police has arrested 4 smugglers. Snake traders are very active in the country who are catching these creatures from the forest and selling them for a few rupees. Now Yamunanagar police has caught the snake traders. According to the information, the Forest Department and the police conducted a joint operation near Trikoni Chowk in Chhachhrauli area of Yamunanagar and arrested 4 people on charges of smuggling snakes. It is being told that the snake for which the deal was to be made is Red Sand Boa and its price in the international market is in crores. The accused arrested by the police will be presented in Kurukshetra court.
Among the arrested accused, three are from Uttar Pradesh and one is from Sadhaura in Yamunanagar. According to the team conducting the joint operation, their deal had been going on for several days and they had received news from sources that these people were going to make a big deal related to snakes in Chhachhrauli area. As soon as the traders arrived to make a deal with the snake, the team present at the spot caught them. Ram Singh, resident of Peerboli, Sadhaura, Lakhan, Kuldeep Sharma and Mohit, resident of Muzaffarnagar, have been arrested from the spot.
According to Forest Department officials, Red Sand Boa is a rare species of snake which is found very rarely. According to smugglers, its price in the international market is in crores of rupees. During the operation it was revealed that the deal for Red Sand Boa was fixed for Rs 20 lakh. The snake has been rescued from the accused. According to the police, foreign currency of Nepal, Korea and Qatar has also been recovered from the arrested accused and some injections have also been found which have been sent to the lab for testing.
It is said that this snake is a rare species and is rarely seen, due to which its price is very high. According to an estimate, the price of Red Sand Boa in the international market ranges from Rs 1 crore to Rs 25 crore. However, this snake is not a poisonous snake and in common language it is also called a two-headed snake. According to the information, along with medicines to increase sex power, these snakes are also used for medicines for many serious diseases. Also, many times they are caught for practicing tantra-mantra due to their superstition. The Government of India has kept this snake in the ‘protected’ category. Also, strict monitoring is done. But despite all this, smuggling of these creatures continues indiscriminately.
