The issue of Muslim girl students wearing burqa and catwalk on the ramp in the fashion show organized at Shri Ram College, Muzaffarnagar has given birth to a new debate by Jamiat Ulema’s district convenor Qari Murkaram Qasmi by expressing his opposition by adding religion. On the other hand, some Ulemas are calling the protest an absurd issue by calling it a part of education. The manager of Darul Uloom Ashrafia has also considered walking the ramp wearing a burqa as a part of education. He says that there is no issue of halal-haraam or legitimate-illegitimate in this. Muslim girl students and college management are also calling it a part of creativity and education.
City Mufti and State President All India Imam Organization Mufti Zulfikar said that religion or religion is not taught in the college. Everyone is equal there. The show, done decently, is a part of education. The girl students are doing fashion design course. Therefore they are taught all types of clothing designs. Therefore, creating any kind of protest and issue is absurd.
