Patients are not being treated properly in SIMS
Bilaspur. During the hearing of the PIL filed on the poor condition of SIMS Hospital, the High Court was told that most of the doctors here take interest in private practice and do not pay attention to the patients.
Also, there is no work culture here. It is noteworthy that High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha has taken suo motu cognizance of the conditions prevailing in SIMS Hospital and has taken a PIL in his court, which is being heard continuously.
In Thursday’s hearing, the report prepared after inspection by court appointed court commissioners Surya Kawalkar Dangi, Sangharsh Pandey and Apoorva Tripathi was presented.
It has been said that after the instructions of the High Court, there has been a lot of improvement in the SIMS system. The sanitation situation improved and for the first time, debris was removed from the drains that had been clogged for years. The report says that despite this, it is necessary to make efforts on a large scale to improve SIMS. On an average, 1174 patients come here every day and 250 patients are admitted.
Seven people die every day. There is no seating arrangement for the family members of the patients coming here, they are made to sit on the floor. Information about the condition of the building along with photographs, availability of specialist doctors, shortage of staff, cleanliness, condition of machines for testing, security arrangements, budget etc. was also given by the Court Commissioner Advocates.
OSD, IAS R Prasanna, appointed on the instructions of the High Court, also said that there is no work culture in SIMS. No one wants to do their work with responsibility. Prasanna has submitted a report in a closed envelope to the High Court suggesting improvements in the SIMS system. The next hearing of the case will be on December 6.
