Action against hospitals refusing to give Swasthya Sathi card
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said the state government has taken action against 55 private hospitals that have refused to accept Swasthya Sathi cards. Speaking in the Assembly while drafting a reply to her Cabinet colleague Chandrima Bhattacharya, Banerjee said she has set up a regulatory commission to take action against health centers that refuse to treat patients with health cards. . The government has taken action against 55 hospitals and taken note of 63 queries on health card violations, it said, adding that 2,44,71,559 families have been covered under the Swasthya Sathi scheme. “Since we find such types of cases, we will take strict action against them at the administrative level,” the CM said. Banerjee said the government has spent Rs 8,000 crore for the scheme and 87 lakh people in the state have Swasthya Sathi cards.
