A herd of 61 elephants is creating havoc in this area, announcement was made
Korba. Election preparations for the first phase of elections have been completed in Chhattisgarh and are in full swing. Due to the presence of elephants in the second phase of voting, there is an atmosphere of fear in Katghora assembly of Korba. At present, a group of about 61 elephants is roaming in different ranges of Katghora forest division.
The Forest Department is very worried that the voting process should not be disrupted due to elephants and is making necessary efforts to keep elephants away from the polling booths. Not only this, through Gajayatra and Munadi, people are being appealed to complete the voting process before evening.
Elephants are no less than a nightmare for the people living in the forest areas of Korba district. Due to the presence of elephants, life of the villagers has become difficult. It is election time, so conducting the voting process peacefully in elephant affected areas is proving to be a challenging task for both the Forest Department and the Election Commission.
