A man was lynched after a quarrel over buying liquor
Kolkata (IANS). A man was allegedly beaten to death by a group of people here on Sunday following a quarrel over buying liquor from a shop. Police said that two people have been arrested in this connection.
The deceased has been identified as Sushant Mandal.
It is learned that an argument broke out between an employee of the liquor shop when Mandal came to the shop at Dhakuria Crossing in South Kolkata to buy liquor.
As the heated argument escalated, the shop staff came out of the shop and with the help of some of his local colleagues started thrashing Mandal, who eventually fell unconscious on the ground.
Mandal was later taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.
Enraged by Mandal’s death, local residents tried to vandalize the liquor shop.
A large contingent of police reached the spot to control the situation.
People also protested by blocking the road, which disrupted traffic in the area.
The employee of the liquor shop and one of his associates have been arrested.
