A woman who was booking a hotel online was cheated, after taking payment through UPI, the miscreant switched off her mobile
Durg. A woman from the district became a victim of fraud by booking a hotel online. The woman came to know of the fraud when the accused blocked her number after taking the money. On the complaint of the woman, Padmanabhpur police have registered a crime under fraud against the accused and started investigating the case. According to the information, Adipti Chakraborty, resident of Lakshmi Heritage Borsi, had booked a room online at Hotel Lemon Tree in Siliguri, West Bengal on April 6. The person talking on the phone introduced himself as the manager of the hotel and his name was Rohit Shukla.
The accused asked for online payment through UPI for hotel booking. On which the woman paid a total of Rs 44 thousand 950 on the numbers given by the accused. When the applicant did not book rooms in the hotel in his name even after paying the money, he asked for his money back. On this the accused blocked the woman’s mobile number. After which the victim realized that she had been cheated and lodged an FIR against the accused in the police.
