A young man was caught extorting as a Naxalite
Janjgir. Police arrested a young man from Bondamunda on charges of levy collection in the name of banned Naxalite organization Communist Party of India (Maoist). The police have also recovered Rs 50,000 from his possession. Police said that the arrested youth is Madhusudan Das (39), a resident of Bandamunda D-Cabin.
Describing himself as an active member of the Naxalite organization, Madhusudan had demanded a levy of Rs.6 lakh from a medicine shopkeeper of Bandamunda. Police took action on Monday afternoon when the shopkeeper gave 50 thousand rupees to Madhusudan Das. Police has recovered Rs 50,000 in cash, two mobiles and a purse from Madhusudan. The police produced the accused Madhusudan Das in Rourkela court on Tuesday. On cancellation of bail, he has been sent to Rourkela Independent Jail.
