Accused in Cuttack minor girl sexual assault gets rigorous imprisonment of 10 years and penalty of Rs 60,000
Cuttack: The accused in the minor girl sexual assault case was pronounced rigorous imprisonment of 10 years. The ad hoc district judge and the POCSO court have pronounced this judgment on the accused Sumant Sethi after finding him guilty. He has been charged with a penalty of Rs 60,000.
If he fails to submit the penalty money then he will be imprisoned for one more year. In accordance with the IPC section 376(1)(N) and POCSO Act section 6 he was found guilty. The District court of Cuttack has ordered the Legal Services Authority to give a compensation amount of Rs 5 lakh to the victim girl.
On February 2, 2019 the victim’s mother had lodged a complaint in Kandarpur police station that her daughter was sexually assaulted. Police arrested the accused basing the complaint. On the basis of statement of 16 witnesses and with the help of other evidences court pronounced rigorous imprisonment in the minor girl assault case of Cuttack.
