Actor granted bail in road accident case, 1 dead
Bengaluru: Kannada actor Nagabhushan got bail on Sunday in a road accident case. Actually, Nagbhushan had hit a couple with his car, in which the woman died and her husband was seriously injured. The incident occurred at Konankunte Cross under Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police station on Saturday night. DCP (Traffic, South) Shiv Prakash Devraj said that Nagabhushan will not be produced before the judge. This is not a hit and run case. It is a case of an accident and hence the actor is released on station bail.
DCP said, “At night, a walking couple, Krishna and his wife Prema, were hit by Nagabhushan’s car. Prema succumbed to her injuries and Krishna is undergoing treatment at the hospital.” ”Due to loss of control of the vehicle, the car mounted on the footpath. Nagabhushan was taken into custody and later released on station bail.” The DCP said, ”We have sent him for a medical test to ascertain whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol. Or not. We will call them again for investigation. The road has a rough surface at two places and an investigation will be conducted to find out how exactly the accident occurred.”
Police have registered a case against the actor under sections 279, 337 and 304A of the IPC. Parth, son of the victim couple, had lodged a complaint in this regard. Police sources said that the complainant had alleged that the actor had hit the couple walking on the footpath. Police said that B Krishna and his wife Prema were walking on the footpath when suddenly a car hit them. Prema, 45, succumbed to her injuries and her husband Krishna is being treated at a private hospital and is said to be critical.
