Adilabad: Extensive arrangements made for counting of votes in Adilabad

Adilabad: Elaborate arrangements were made on Tuesday for counting of votes pertaining to the Adilabad parliamentary constituency. The Adilabad parliamentary constituency comprises seven assembly constituencies such as Adilabad, Boath, Nirmal, Khanapur, Mudhole, Sirpur (Tea) and Asifabad, where polling was held on May 13.

3 places for counting

According to officials, three places have been set up for counting of votes at the district centre. Counting of votes for Adilabad and Boath assembly constituencies will be done at the Technical Training and Development Centre (TTDC), while votes from Nirmal, Khanapur and Mudhole constituencies will be counted at Sanjay Gandhi Polytechnic College. Counting of votes for both Sirpur (Tea) and Asifabad assembly constituencies will be done at Telangana Social Welfare Residential School (Girls).

14 tables, 159 rounds

Fourteen tables were arranged for counting of votes, while the counting of votes will be done in 159 rounds. Each round will take 10 to 15 minutes. Counting of votes will begin at 8 am. Counting of votes pertaining to Asifabad segment will take the maximum of 26 rounds, while counting of votes pertaining to Adilabad segment will be done in 21 rounds.

12 candidates in fray

The political prospects of the 12 candidates, who are in the fray, will come to the fore. The candidates braved the scorching heat and campaigned intensely. Some of the prominent candidates included Athram Sakku fielded by BRS, Godam Nagesh of the BJP and Athram Suguna belonging to the Congress. Incidentally, Sakku, Nagesh and Suguna were teachers before joining politics.

1,100 police personnel

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Gausha Alam said that 1,100 policemen will be deployed at the counting centres as part of security measures. Those holding passes issued by the Election Commission of India will be allowed to enter the centres. In view of the counting, traffic was banned from the ‘I Love Adilabad’ sculpture to Mavala police station. People are advised to use internal roads to reach their destinations.
