Advisory issued regarding safety standards for firecracker shops

Dhamtari. To celebrate the upcoming Diwali festival safely and with joy, District Senani and District Fire Officer Mrs. Shobha Thakur issued advisory regarding taking precautions by following safety standards and keeping fire extinguishers in the permanent/temporary structures built and in the firecracker shops operating in pandals. Is of. In the advisory issued, he has said that the firecracker shop should not be made of any inflammable material like cloth, bamboo, rope, tent etc. but should be made of tin shed made of non-flammable material.

The said shops should not be built at a distance of at least three meters from each other and in front of each other. It was also told in the advisory that the use of any type of oil lamp, gas lamp and open electric light for lighting in firecracker shops and display of fireworks should be banned within 50 meters of any firecracker shop.

There should not be open joints in electrical wires and every master switch should have a fuse or circuit breaker, so that in case of short circuit the electric flow stops automatically.

Shops should not be near transformers and high tension power lines should not pass over them. Every firecracker shop should have DCP fire extinguisher of 5 kg capacity (its standard capacity is 6 ft).

There should be a provision of drums of 200 liter capacity with buckets at certain intervals in front of the shops. Parking of bikes/cars in front of firecracker shops should be prohibited. The phone numbers of the fire department and ambulance should be posted at some places in the shop premises. Fire fighting vehicles can be made available for standby duty from 7 pm to 10 pm as per availability. There should be sufficient space for movement of fire fighting vehicles. If the above advisory is not followed, the concerned operators themselves will be responsible.
