After FIR big news from High Court regarding journalist Sudhir Chaudhary

Bengaluru: Karnataka High Court on Friday granted interim relief to news anchor Sudhir Chaudhary. The court orally said that a “prima facie case” is made out for investigation against journalist anchor Sudhir Chaudhary. However, the court directed the Karnataka government not to take any drastic action against Sudhir Chaudhary. Sudhir Chaudhary had yesterday approached the High Court to quash the FIR filed against him by the Karnataka Police.

“The role of media is to provide information but it is not the information that has to be provided. It is not that the benefit is given only to minorities…it is limited to minorities only,” the court said, as reported by Live Law. No. The allegation was that the government is providing the scheme only to the minorities and depriving the Hindus. So prima facie it is a matter of investigation.” However, a single bench of Justice Hemant Chandanagoudar said there was no need for custodial interrogation. Therefore, Karnataka Police should not take any coercive action against Sudhir Choudhary till the final disposal of the case next week. Let us tell you that news channel Aaj Tak has also approached the High Court in a separate petition. Today a common order was passed on both the petitions. .

Senior advocate Uday Holla, counsel for Sudhir Chaudhary, claimed that the alleged news report only mentioned that in the budget the government had claimed that the scheme would be open to minorities and SC/ST communities, but when the scheme was announced However, it was limited to minorities only. To this the High Court said that such clarification was given only in a later broadcast. The initial report only mentioned that the incentive was being given only to the minority community and not to Hindus.

The bench orally remarked, “The role of the media is to provide information. But this is not (the) way of providing information… The average man can also develop hatred towards minorities, saying that they (encourage ) has been given, not to me…It is not that the benefit is given only to minorities…even to corporate entities…it is not limited to minorities only.

Karnataka Police has filed an FIR against a Hindi news channel and its consulting editor Sudhir Chaudhary for providing false information about the state government’s commercial vehicle concession scheme. A case under section 505 (mischievous statement) of the Indian Penal Code and 153 A (religion, caste, place of birth, residence) was registered against the channel and its consulting editor at Seshadripuram police station here on the complaint of Karnataka Minority Development Corporation (KMDC) assistant administrator Shivakumar, officials said. An FIR has been registered under the Indian Penal Code (Promoting enmity between different groups).

The complainant accused the consultant editor of spreading false news about the corporation’s plan and trying to disturb communal harmony in the state. Sudhir Chaudhary, reacting to the FIR, said that he is ready to fight in the court. He wrote on ‘X’, “Received information about FIR against me by Congress government in Karnataka. The answer to the question is FIR? That too with non-bailable sections. That means complete preparation for arrest. My question was why the Hindu community is not included in the self-reliant Sarathi scheme? I am also ready for this fight. Will meet in court now.”

According to the FIR, in a news program on September 11, the consultant editor claimed that the Karnataka government was running a scheme that benefits only minorities and not non-minority Hindus and was doing minority appeasement in the state. He also claimed that this is causing injustice to Hindus.

The complainant alleged, ‘By publishing such news, efforts are being made to spread hatred between Hindus and other religions. This is also an attempt to create an atmosphere of unrest and incite communal riots. Despite being fully aware of what he is saying, by publishing such news, he is conspiring to disturb the communal harmony in the state.”
