After killing the priest, the miscreants took away the idols of Ashtadhatu from the ancient temple
Sitamarhi: In the Belsand police station area of Sitamarhi district of Bihar, miscreants stabbed the priest of the temple to death while stealing the idols of Ashtadhatu. After getting information about the incident on Saturday morning, the police reached the spot and started investigating the matter.
According to the police, on Friday night, Sugandh Jha (70), the priest of Ram-Janaki temple in Jafarpur village, fell asleep after eating food. His body was found in the morning. This incident came to light when people came to worship in the temple on Saturday. This temple is at a short distance from the village.
At night, unknown miscreants killed Pujari Jha and took away three idols located there. Belsand police station in-charge Navlesh Kumar Azad said that the deceased was a resident of Sakir Bhandar village under Pachpakadi police station of East Champaran district. He was working as a priest in this ancient temple for about one and a half to two years. He told that according to the villagers, the thieves have taken away the idols of Lord Ram, Laxman and Mata Janaki, which are made of Ashtadhatu.
According to the police station in-charge, the police is investigating the matter. FSL and dog squad teams have been called. At present, investigation is going on.
