Raipur: As per the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Agriculture Department is keeping a special watch on the quality of chemical fertilizers, seeds and pesticides in the state. District level officers of the Agriculture Department are continuously raiding their respective areas and taking samples of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, which are being tested in the quality control laboratory. So far in the Kharif season 2023, 89 samples of seeds and 25 samples of chemical fertilizers have been found to be non-standard in the state, along with banning the sale of lots with immediate effect, the Agriculture Department has issued notices to the concerned firms and asked them to respond. Additional Director Agriculture (Fertilizer) S.C. Padam informed that in Kharif season 2023, there is a target to collect 5000 samples of seeds, 3500 samples of fertilizers and 556 samples of plant protection drugs. So far 3958 samples of seeds have been taken by the team of departmental officers, which have been sent to the laboratory and tested. In the test, 3762 samples have been found to be of standard level and 89 of non-standard level, while 107 samples are still in the process of testing.
Similarly, to check the quality of chemical fertilizers, 3006 samples have been collected from various institutions by the fertilizer inspectors of the Agriculture Department and sent to the laboratory for testing, in the report received so far, 1267 samples were found to be of standard level and 25 samples were found to be of non-standard level. Are. 1566 samples are still under process of testing, while 148 samples have been rejected due to certain reasons. With the department banning the sale of lots of non-standard seeds and fertilizers, show-cause notices have been issued to the concerned institutions. The team of Agriculture Department is also continuously checking the quality of insecticides. The investigation team has so far taken a total of 84 samples from different firms, out of which 30 samples have been found to be of standard level and 3 non-standard. 37 samples are still in the process of testing, while 14 samples have been rejected due to certain reasons.
