Ahmedabad Police lauds Muslim man for act of brotherhood during Rath Yatra

In a heart-warming display of humanity, Salim Abdul Sheikh, a resident of Shahpur, received appreciation from the city police for his act of brotherhood during the Rath Yatra procession on June 20.
The sad part is that Sheikh’s wife died due to illness on the very day of the Rath Yatra. His residence, located along a procession route, presented a unique challenge. It was necessary to take the body from the hospital to his home and then to the cemetery.
Amid vigorous preparations for the rath yatra, the police stepped forward to facilitate the transportation of the dead body. The concerned authorities contacted Sheikh and sought details about the burial arrangements.
The sheikh explained the situation, saying that since it was the day of the Rath Yatra, the procession would pass in front of his house before the burial procession proceeded.
In an act of prudence, Sheikh decided to keep his wife’s body at home till the Rath Yatra procession passed, a period of about five hours.
In recognition of his act of brotherhood, the police felicitated him for his commitment to humanity.
