Air Force officer targeted by pet dog, not once but twice

Kanpur: In the Chakeri police station area of Kanpur, an incident occurred where an Air Force officer was bitten by a pet dog. This unfortunate event took place within the premises of the Air Force campus. Two days later, when the officer visited the dog owner’s residence to file a complaint, the dog attacked him once more. It took considerable effort to free the officer’s hand from the dog’s grasp, and by that time, a significant amount of blood had been shed. Subsequently, the injured Air Force officer was promptly taken to the hospital.

The officer involved in this incident is Wing Commander Rupesh Parekh. He explained that on the evening of November 1, he was taking a stroll within the campus when he was bitten by the dog from behind. After gathering information, he identified the dog’s owner and initially contacted him over the phone since the owner was not present at home. During their conversation, the dog’s owner assured him that such an incident would not reoccur.

However, two days later, Rupesh Parekh visited the dog owner’s residence to formally lodge a complaint. Shockingly, the dog attacked him once again, this time in the presence of the owner. The dog clamped its jaws onto Wing Commander Rupesh’s hand, resulting in significant bleeding. It is worth noting that the dog’s owner also serves in the Air Force.

Wing Commander Rupesh Parekh elaborated on the situation, stating that after the initial dog bite in the park, he identified the dog’s owner and had a telephone conversation with him, during which assurances were given that such incidents would not recur. On November 3, he visited the owner’s house to verify whether the dog had been vaccinated. However, upon opening the door, the owner and a servant emerged, and the dog once again attacked his hand, causing substantial bleeding. He promptly sought first aid.

Following the incident, Rupesh Parekh filed a written complaint detailing the entire episode at the Chakeri police station. As a result, the police have initiated an investigation into the matter, and a case has been registered against the dog’s owner. Furthermore, after the incident, the Air Force officer who owned the dog has concealed it at an undisclosed location. The Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cantt) confirmed that an FIR has been filed, and all necessary legal actions will be taken as per the requirements of the case.
