While there are many burning issues in the state, the Chief Minister focuses only on polygamy.” Earlier, at an event in the national capital on Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said a bill to ban polygamy in the state will be placed before the Assembly in February. Hitting out at BJP and Assam CM, the AIUDF MLA said that the government is targeting a particular community by banning polygamy. “We will explain our stand after the bill is formally presented in the House,” Islam said.
