Allegations of obstruction against SIT, KC demands action

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan has said that the appointment of two CIs linked to the CPM leadership to the Special Investigation Team probing the Sabarimala gold robbery will hamper the investigation. “Behind these names that have surfaced before the High Court are two senior IPS officers and a senior officer working for the CPM at the Crime Branch headquarters.
This officer is notorious for filing false cases against Congress leaders. His aim is to protect the culprits by leaking the SIT’s actions and derailing the investigation. The High Court should intervene immediately,” Satheesan demanded. K.C. Venugopal, general secretary of the KCA ICC, asked why the Special Investigation Team secretly interrogated Kadakampally Surendran and whether they had any special powers to do so.
“This confirms the suspicions raised by the High Court in the investigation. The officers of the investigation team appointed by the High Court are under government control.” Responding to a media question about whether the SIT had questioned MP Adoor Prakash, KC replied, “Let the law take its course.” Venugopal said, “Sonia Gandhi’s image is being raised to divert attention from the case. The government has been trying to malign the case from the beginning. No matter how much abuse the CPM receives, they won’t learn.”
